about

The longest track of the record is an outlier in many ways. For starters, it’s significantly heavier and more complex and draws more faithfully from the artist’s progressive rock influences. The song talks about moving on from a relationship with someone who wasn’t right for you, but still feeling incredibly deeply about them.
It encourages the listener to not harbour any ill will and to simply wish their ex-partner well on their journey, separate though it may be, with the echoing message being – If this darkness brings a better dawn, I’ll see you on the other side.

lyrics

Verse 1:

Hey there, are you listening
Listening to what I have to say
You’re so far away, so distant.
But I’ll say it, I’ll say it anyway.

You and I, we’re not the same.
There’s a whole world in between us and it’s growing every day
The road that we walked on was no easy path to tread
It was all so much easier when we’d lay awake in bed.

Prechorus:

We took a walk down this street
Of hopes and dreams
Hand in hand, on our feet
We followed what gleamed

There’s no easy way to say this,
But I guess I’ll have to try
So give me one last kiss
Coz it’s time to say goodbye

Chorus:

Like two stars in a summer sky,
Who were never meant to be.
Let’s fade away into the night
And set each other free

If this darkness brings a better dawn
I’ll see you on the other side.

Verse 2:

Suppose we stayed the course
Ignoring.. Ignoring all the signs
I sometimes wonder what we’d miss the most
Our spirits or our fuckin’ minds

When the love we take is more than what we make
That’ll be the day we can no longer fake
We’ll sit and wonder how we made it this far
Knowing all along, this isn’t who we are

Bridge:

No, don’t stay with me, if you’ll leave tomorrow.
Why do we always have to bother?
Don’t Stay with me coz you’ll leave tomorrow.
Don’t Stay with me coz there’s no tomorrow
